The “Turkey Trot” Helps Out Ballard Food Bank

Starting out Thanksgiving morning with a brisk walk or jog has become an annual tradition at our home.   Years ago when we joined the Turkey Trot, up at NW 85th & 32nd Ave NW, we had a small group of 50 or so companions and the event, which supports the Ballard Food Bank, has grown by leaps and bounds.  For a $35.00 donation, which is handled on-line, you can register for the Turkey Trot and join a few thousand hearty souls on Thanksgiving morning as they burn off calories to make room for gravy, pies, and all the other delicious items that are served later in the day.  Best of all, this gathering has turned into a major fund raiser for the local food bank, all with the help of volunteers.  It has become a neighborhood tradition, kept alive regardless of the weather and enjoyed by many.  I hope you can make the time to get this on your calendar & we look forward to seeing you next week at the finish line. Enjoy the watercolor created by my dad Bill Talley, who will be missed dearly this Thanksgiving.  Gobble Gobble, Liz
