Spring Cleaning can Boost Home Sales

I was out showing homes today with a terrific client, and in looking at a half dozen homes we found that the cleaner and nicer a home was, the more comfortable and interested we were in the place.  It wasn’t which place was the ‘most expensive’ or which one was in the ‘best’ location, it came down to some homes felt neglected, dirty, not really ready for prime time, and others seemed very well cared-for, they were clean, nicely presented and really showed pride of ownership.  They created a much stronger “sales pitch” because we could imagine moving in there and enjoying the sunny and open living room, or tidy and nice kitchen.   If you are getting ready to sell your home this Spring, I would recommend you do a little “spring cleaning” and get the windows washed, donate extra stuff you don’t need in your hall closets, basements and laundry rooms, and take anything broken or useless to the dump.  Having the front porch say “welcome to this home” with some fresh pots of flowers or a few chairs is a big difference from being greeted with yesterday’s chaos.  My advice is keep it simple, crisp and clean and buyers will respond to your home in a much more positive way.  Who knows? Maybe your extra efforts will bring you a strong cash offer that is just what you were hoping for.25th nw 008
